King & Queeen of the Pier

Buster, a Collie owned by Adam Sanders of Merritt Island was chosen “MoonDawgie” (King) of the Pier and his “Sheila” (Queen) was Shasta, a Husky owned by Vanessa Castillo of Cocoa, at the Central Brevard Humane Society’s 13th Annual Paws at the Pier held on Saturday, September 20th, at the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier.

winners _paws_pier_photo_2Other awards presented were “Best Dressed Pet” went to Ciera, a Golden Retriever owned by Jean Brannan of Cocoa; “Best Pet Trick” presented to Riley, a Border Collie mix owned by Stephanie Heald of Merritt Island; and “Pet/Companion Look-a-Like” was Heidi “Sweetpea”, a Dachshund & Corgi mix owned by Karen Mills of Merritt Island.

The judges of this year’s pet contests included Mike Lowe, Lite Rock 99.3 FM; Bonnie King, Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism; and Mayor Rocky Randels, City of Cape Canaveral.

Paws at the Pier is one of the Central Brevard Humane Society’s signature events that helps raise awareness and financial support for the unwanted and abandoned pets that visit the shelter each year, who need a safe and loving “forever” home.
